Mack Brown Is Right: 'We've Got Us A Mess Right Now'

After pummeling weaker competition with their ground game (which in itself feels strange to say), Texas ran into a defense in Missouri that they could not run over. That was made worse by Fozzy Whittaker's season ending injury early in the game. Freshmen Malcolm Brown and Joe Bergeron are also battling injuries ... and are still freshmen.

After producing all of a field goal and a blocked punt safety against the Tigers, the Longhorns now face the specter of three solid teams in Kansas State, Texas A&M and Baylor. Lose all three and - at least record-wise - you're pretty much back where you finished last season. Mack Brown does see what looms.

We've got us a mess right now. We've got to figure it out in a week.

The thing you look at is, we've got an identity. And all of a sudden, that identity is gone in the first quarter (at Mizzou). So we've got to go back and regroup.

Right now our offense came up with our niche, and our niche was taken away. So we've got to go back and regroup and find another way to figure out how to try to move the ball against a good Kansas State team and against teams that are going to score points here the next three weeks.
