Texas Football Injury Update: Jaxon Shipley Out, Malcolm Brown Likely In Against Mizzou

It's good news and bad news for two of Texas football's star freshmen as the Longhorns head to Columbia to play 4-5 Missouri on Saturday.

Jaxon Shipley, who leads Texas in receptions and receiving TD's, is out with a knee injury he suffered against Kansas on Oct. 29.

Malcolm Brown, the team's leading rusher, is expected to return after missing last week's game against Texas Tech with a turf toe.

Freshmen Joe Bergeron and senior Fozzy Whittaker stepped up in Brown's absence, rushing for 274 yards on 39 carries and 5 TD's. The Longhorns embarrassment of riches in the running game will likely cause the Tigers to stack the line and dare freshmen QB David Ash to beat them with his arm, especially with Shipley's absence.

That could mean a big day for sophomore WR Mike Davis, the Longhorns best deep threat, who has caught 29 balls for 490 yards and 1 TD this season.
