College Football, Week 6: TCU, Baylor Look To Rebound, SMU Streaking

Baylor and TCU both hope to shake off late game losses in conference play, while SMU looks to make a statement in the C-USA, hosting champ UCF

Week Six of the college football season will see the SMU Mustangs hoping to extend their winning streak when they attempt to avenge their C-USA Championship loss, while Week One foes Baylor and TCU both try and recover from stunning late game losses.

Baylor (3-1, 0-1 B12) looks to rebound from their last minute loss at Kansas State when they travel to Ames, Iowa to face the equally resurgent Cyclones, who took their first loss of the season last week in a blowout loss hosting Texas. Quarterback Robert Griffin III continues to astound, with a national best 230.33 pass efficiency rating, which could end up a record for all-time best in a season.

Gametime is 6pm CT, airing nationally on FSN.

TCU (3-2, 1-0 MWC) will return to conference play Saturday night at San Diego State after the Frogs finished a 2-1 three-game homestand in Ft. Worth. On the heels of a now controversial 40-33 overtime loss to Dallas rival SMU, TCU dropped out of both the USA Today Coaches' and AP Polls.

If TCU finishes out their Mountain West Conference membership like they began, it should be an easy trip: Including two trips to the Poinsettia Bowl, TCU is 5-0 in their five trips to Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. The Frogs have never lost to San Diego State (6-0), and are riding an 11-game MWC road winning streak. Gary Patterson has never lost to Aztecs head coach Rocky Long, winning all four meetings while Long was head coach of MWC member New Mexico.

Gametime is 9:30pm CT, airing nationally on CBS Sports Network.

SMU (4-1, 2-0 CUSA) rides a four game winning streak against defending C-USA champion UCF at Ford Stadium in Dallas, in a rematch of the 2010 C-USA Championship that saw the Golden Knights upset SMU 17-7 en route to their Liberty Bowl upset of Georgia. UCF leads the all-time series 3-0, but twice SMU has outgained the Knights. The Mustangs woes have been in the turnover category against UCF - they trail with a -7 turnover ration in those three meetings, including two in last year's title game.

Gametime is 2:30pm CT, airing nationally on FSN.
