Rookie running back DeMarco Murray broke the Dallas Cowboys single-game rushing record with a 253 yard performance on 25 carries. The total yards eclipses Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith's old record of 237 that was set on Halloween of 1993. It is only the third time in history that Dallas Cowboys runner has topped the 200 yard mark.
Murray's 253 yards is the ninth best performance by a runner in NFL history. Trailing NFL greats such as Walter Payton and O.J. Simpson as well as active players Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles. Not bad for a rookie running back that got the start today because of an injury to Felix Jones.
