Cowboys Vs. Rams: DeMarco Murray Breaks Dallas Single-Game Rushing Record

Rookie running back DeMarco Murray broke the Dallas Cowboys single-game rushing record with a 253 yard performance on 25 carries. The total yards eclipses Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith's old record of 237 that was set on Halloween of 1993. It is only the third time in history that Dallas Cowboys runner has topped the 200 yard mark.

Murray's 253 yards is the ninth best performance by a runner in NFL history. Trailing NFL greats such as Walter Payton and O.J. Simpson as well as active players Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles. Not bad for a rookie running back that got the start today because of an injury to Felix Jones

1. Adrian Peterson 296
2. Jamal Lewis 295
3. Jerome Harrison 286
4. Corey Dillon 278
5. Walter Payton 275
6. O.J. Simpson 273
7. Shaun Alexander 266
8. Jamaal Charles 259
9. DeMarco Murray 253
10. Mike Anderson 251
