So, many of our worst fears have been realized. Most Cowboys fans hate the Steelers. As a Patriots fan, I hate the Steelers. Yet, here the Steelers are, headed to Super Bowl XLV after defeating the New York Jets in last night's AFC Conference Championship game.
↵The Steelers won the AFC North this year, going 12-4, earning themselves the No. 2 seed in the AFC. After a first-round bye, the Steelers defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional round, 31-24. The trip to the Super Bowl marks the third time in the last six years that Ben Roethlisberger and co. are headed to the Super Bowl.
↵Their opponent? The NFC Champion Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers wasn't at his best yesterday, but the Packers knocked off the Chicago Bears - beating not one, not two but three Bears quarterbacks in the process. Green Bay is looking to become just the second sixth seed in NFL history to win the Super Bowl. The only other team to do so were, yup, the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2006.
↵Green Bay played three straight road games as the six seed. The Pack defeated the Eagles in the Wild Card round before headed to Atlanta and blowing out the No. 1 seeded Falcons. Green Bay managed to defeat the top three seeds in the NFC, so they definitely deserve to be headed to Cowboys Stadium for Super Bowl XLV.
↵I really don't care for the Packers, but I really, really, really dislike the Steelers. So for at least two weeks of my life, I will be rooting for the Packers.
↵Go Pack Go.
