Todd Archer reports that after denying Wade Phillips and the Houston Texans the chance to interview (hire) defensive coach Reggie Herring, the Dallas Cowboys have changed their minds and have granted permission. As Archer notes, this could be because new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has a new hire in mind as his linebackers coach.
Herring came to Dallas in 2008 from the University of Arkansas. He previously coached linebackers in Houston under Dom Capers for two years.
