Per Anthony Andro, the Rangers have designated infielder Alex Cora for assignment and purchased the contract of infielder Esteban German.
Cora had only appeared in four games for the Rangers after signing with Texas. He had seven at bats, going two for seven in them.
German has played with AAA Oklahoma City all season, posting a batting line of .280/.371/.388 and 50 stolen bases.
