College Football Rankings: Sooners Look to Move Up In Rankings With Win Over Texas

New, 1 comment

The eighth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners will take on the 21st-ranked Texas Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry this weekend. Oklahoma goes into the game as four point favorites – thanks to Texas’ loss to unranked UCLA last week.

Even if Oklahoma wins on Saturday, voters may not see the victory as significant. Texas will almost certainly be unranked with a loss and the win won’t look that impressive. If ninth-ranked Stanford can upset No. 4 Oregon, the Ducks would likely drop in the new college football rankings. This would be offset by the Cardinal almost definitely leapfrogging the Sooners in such a scenario.

The seventh-ranked Gators are headed to top-ranked Alabama on Saturday night. It’s tough to say where the voters will place Alabama if Florida pulls off the upset – but if the Crimson Tide win, Florida will certainly drop into the teens.

This week is a great opportunity for the Sooners to notch their first Big 12 win and move up in the rankings with a win over the Longhorns.
