(Sports Network) – Ervin Santana threw his first shutout of the season with a five-hitter, as the Angels edged the Texas Rangers, 2-0, in the middle contest of a three-game series.
Santana (17-9) also notched a career high in wins in a season by limiting the Rangers to the five hits and a walk, while striking out eight. It was his fifth career shutout and fourth complete game of the season.
Hank Conger and Kevin Frandsen each drove in a run for the Angels, who have won three in a row.
Colby Lewis (11-13) gave up two runs and struck out 10 in seven innings, but took the loss. Texas has dropped four of five, and still has a magic number of six to clinch the AL West.
