Hamilton Optimistic About Playing Next Week

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that Josh Hamilton thinks he’ll be ready to return to the Rangers lineup next week for the Rangers final five or six games of the regular season.

Outfielder Josh Hamilton, who has two broken ribs, said he could be ready by the final five games of the season if all goes according to plan.

He received six shots today — three anti-inflammatory shots in his ribs and three nerve-blocking shots in his back. Hamilton said he is feeling better already.

He will rest today an be evaluated Wednesday. It’s possible that he will jog then.

Dr. Robert Watkins told Hamlton that baseball activities can do no further damage to the ribs. It’s pain management at this point. The one concern is running into another wall. Hamilton, though, doubts he would change his style of play if he does return, especially in the playoffs.
