Jeff Wilson is reporting that injured Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is set to visit back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins. Hamilton has been sidelined since September 4th with bruised ribs and was recently injected with a pair of cortisone shots. Hamilton said on Saturday that he was concerned about his lack of progress and was quoted as saying, "It's time to take the next step."
This could be a legitimate reason for alarm since it's yet another ailing part of the body for Hamilton. He's dealt with back and knee injuries throughout this season but neither have been reported as the cause for his current absence which has been due to three bruised ribs.
Hamilton is a legitimate MVP candidate and has easily been the Rangers best player this season, posting a .361/.414/.635 line with 31 home runs.
