(Sports Network) – Andy Dalton completed 21-of-23 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns, leading fourth-ranked TCU to a 45-10 blowout of Baylor at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
Dalton set the single-game completion percentage record for TCU (3-0), which extended its home winning streak to 16 games. The Horned Frogs were coming off a 62-7 rout of Tennessee Tech.
Ed Wesley ran for 165 yards and two scores on 19 carries, while Jeremy Kerley caught both of Dalton’s touchdown throws. Kerley finished with six catches for 69 yards for TCU, which totaled 558 yards of offense.
Robert Griffin III threw for 164 yards and a touchdown for Baylor (2-1), which had given up just nine points in its first two contests this season.
The Horned Frogs had a two-pronged attack, complementing Dalton’s 267 passing yards with 291 yards on the ground.
That balance was on display on the game’s opening drive, when TCU went 80 yards in six plays. Once into Baylor territory, Wesley ran three times before Dalton found Kerley for a 28-yard touchdown, which came 2:20 into the game.
Following a Baylor punt, TCU went 73 yards for another score. The six-play drive was capped by Wesley’s 49-yard run about midway through the quarter.
Aaron Jones kicked a 48-yard field goal on the Bears’ next possession, but the Horned Frogs again found the end zone on a 73-yard drive. Dalton’s 29-yard pass to Jimmy Young got the ball to the Baylor three-yard line, and Matthew Tucker ran it twice in a row to crack the goal line. That gave TCU a 21-3 lead, which it expanded with two more touchdowns in the second quarter.
Wesley’s five-yard run ended an 11-play, 90-yard march with a little more than 10 minutes left to play.
Baylor punted, and Kerley returned the ball 45 yards to the Bears’ 25. TCU cashed in on the field position, making it a 35-3 game on a two-yard run by Luke Shivers.
The Horned Frogs carried that margin into halftime and were never threatened in the second half.
Ross Evans drilled a 23-yard field goal with 5:30 left in the third for TCU, while Baylor responded with its lone touchdown — a 53-yard pass from Griffin to Josh Gordon.
But the Horned Frogs’ defense held the Bears off the board for the remainder of the game, and Dalton added a nine-yard TD strike to Kerley with just under 10 minutes left in the game.
