Things Appear To Be Getting Worse For Liverpool

Soccernet has a new story this morning up on Liverpool's worsening financial situation.

Liverpool have refuted claims that they have sought advance funding from the Premier League from TV revenues and sponsorship payments as their financial situation is starting to alarm fiscal experts.

A fire sale of players in the January transfer window cannot be ruled out, even though Liverpool have already, according to ESPNsoccernet sources, given assurances to the Premier League that they can fulfill all their fixtures for this season.

There is quite a bit more in the piece, and some pretty unthinkable eventualities are discussed.

I'm an Arsenal fan, so Liverpool's issues generally amuse me, but this story centers around Tom Hicks. And as a Dallas Stars fan I'm still one of those held hostage by Hicks' continued ownership. We can only hope that a buyer for the Stars is found soon.
