Jason Garrett Comments On Unfortunate First Half Play

New, 1 comment

The Cowboys are still answering for the multi-tiered, brain-dead play that ended the first half Sunday Night and provided the Redskins with their only touchdown. Wade Phillips offered a somewhat half hearted acceptance of blame Monday in his press conference, saying that as head coach the buck always stops with him.

Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett offered his own mia culpa Wednesday.

"I called the play. It's my responsiblity."

"That was a situation where we should have just taken a knee and should have gone into the locker room," Garrett said. "We didn't do that. We put them in a situation where that could happen. That was unfortunate because it obviously made a difference in the game."

Garrett has received most of the blame from media and fans, not only for the blown call but for an uneven offensive performance that totaled just seven points and featured an extremely conservative passing game designed to relieve pressure on two backup offensive linemen.
