Cliff Lee Undergoes Back Injection

Per Jeff Wilson, struggling Rangers pitcher Cliff Lee returned to Arlington with soreness in his back.

Lee was examined by Dr. Keith Meister, who determined that the injury is muscular in nature. Lee was given a trigger-point injection, will work out Thursday in Arlington and will rejoin the team Friday at Minnesota. He is scheduled to start Tuesday. That could change based on how he feels this weekend, but the Rangers haven’t made any changes yet.

Lee is coming off one of his worst starts as a member of the Rangers where he failed to escape the fifth inning, allowing seven runs – four earned – on 10 hits in four and two thirds innings of work against the Kansas City Royals.
