Despite initial assurances otherwise from Ron Washington, the Rangers appear to be considering their options for the fifth starter spot currently occupied by Rich Harden. The turn comes up next on Saturday, and two off-days this week would allow the team to skip the slot. T.R. Sullivan reports that they are now considering that alternative.
"With those off-days we could make some adjustments," manager Ron Washington said. "We haven't decided that yet."
Even with the changed tone, Washington continues to assure that Harden "will get the ball."
The Rangers have other options for the spot. Scott Feldman pitched more innings Saturday than Harden did. Derek Holland threw six shutout innings for Oklahoma City on the same day, and Michael started for the Redhawks today.
