Little League World Series 2010: Texas To Face Washington

The Pearland, Texas Little League All Star team knows who stands between them and a chance at the World Series crown after Auburn, Washington eliminated Fairfield, Connecticut on Wednesday night by a score of 9-5. Washington took a 6-3 lead, but Connecticut scored twice in the fifth to bring the game within one headed into the sixth. Washington scored three times in the top half of the sixth - accented by an Isiah Hatch home run - to take a 9-5 lead in the sixth which was the eventual final score.

Washington will now face off against Texas tomorrow night at 7:00 PM CDT on ESPN and ESPN3.com. Washington would need to defeat Texas twice in order to advance, a tall task given Texas has yet to lose a game since arriving in Williamsport.

Earlier on Wednesday, Georgia defeated Ohio in a winners bracket game by 6-0 score. Ohio will now face off against Hawaii tomorrow at 3:00 PM CDT in an elimination game, with coverage being broadcast on ESPN and ESPN3.com. The winner of that contest will face Georgia - and will need to defeat them twice in order to advance.

Internationally, Japan defeated Mexico 3-2 to win their pool. Japan won each game of their pool play, going 3-0. They'll face the winner of Chinese-Taipei and Panama. Panama today eliminated the All Stars from Vancouver, Canada, by a 4-2 score. Panama will need to defeat Chinese-Taipei twice in order to advance.
