The University of Texas Longhorns football team comes into the 2010 season as the fifth-ranked team, according to the Associated Press preseason poll. The defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide enter the season as the preseason No. 1, with Ohio State, Boise State, and Florida coming before Texas. TCU, which last to Boise State in last year's Fiesta Bowl, 17-10, is the sixth-ranked team in the country according to the AP. Texas rival Oklahoma is ranked seventh while Nebraska, Iowa and Virginia Tech round out the top 10.
The Longhorns also received a first place vote - as did the rival Sooners.
Texas will open up their 2010 season against Rice on Sept. 4 in Houston. TCU opens up play on Sept. 4 as well - from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington against the Oregon State Beavers.
