On the opening day of play of the 2010 Little League World Series, the All Stars from Pearland, Texas narrowly defeated the All Stars from Plymouth, Minnesota by a score of 10-8 on Friday afternoon. Texas took a 10-4 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning before a two out grand slam brought Washington to within two runs. After a two out walk, the tying run came to the plate for Minnesota. Texas made a pitching change and the tying run was frozen on a 1-2 fastball on the outer half for strike three, thwarting the Minnesota comeback and ending the game.â†µ
The Pearland, TX team will now take on the All Stars from Fairfield, Connecticut who are the New England regional winners. Connecticut defeated Auburn, Washington earlier today by a score of 3-1 in the World Series' opening game.
