On the opening day of play of the 2010 Little League World Series, the All Stars from Pearland, Texas narrowly defeated the All Stars from Plymouth, Minnesota by a score of 10-8 on Friday afternoon. Texas took a 10-4 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning before a two out grand slam brought Washington to within two runs. After a two out walk, the tying run came to the plate for Minnesota. Texas made a pitching change and the tying run was frozen on a 1-2 fastball on the outer half for strike three, thwarting the Minnesota comeback and ending the game.
↵The Pearland, TX team will now take on the All Stars from Fairfield, Connecticut who are the New England regional winners. Connecticut defeated Auburn, Washington earlier today by a score of 3-1 in the World Series' opening game. The Texas/Connecticut game will be televised at 7:00 PM CDT on Sunday, August 22nd on ESPN2 and can also be viewed online at ESPN3.com
