In something that comes as absolutely no surprise to anybody, Brett Favre is going to come out of semi retirement (or retirement number three...or limbo...or whatever you want to call it) and suit up for the Vikings this season. Favre flew to Minnesota earlier today and the Vikes will be holding a press conference on Wednesday presumably to announce that they've come to terms on a new contract and Favre's coming back.
↵Favre enjoyed basically his best statistical season last year, throwing 33 touchdowns to only seven interceptions while posting a rating of 107.2 - the highest mark in his career. It's pretty unrealistic to expect he'll do that again this year, but playing in a dome as well as having Peterson certainly help his cause. Even if Favre regresses to his 2007 or 2008 levels, he's still likely far better for the Vikings than either Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels.
↵With Favre coming back, the Cowboys are going to have company as the trendy pick from the NFC to head to the Super Bowl. Dallas will travel to Minnesota in Week Six which will surely be hyped to the fullest extent by FOX with Romo v. Favre - as well as it possibly being an NFC title game preview.
↵All this means for Dallas is that their Week Six game will be tougher, and they'll make have to win an extra game or two now to get a first round bye or home field advantage - but those bridges are far, far off in the distance.
↵But hey, should the Cowboys and Vikings meet in the NFC Championship game, Cowboys fans can dream of the game ending interception that Favre is bound to throw.
