Rough Day For The University Of Texas

Texas entered the day with hopes raised that high picks Brandon Workman and Chance Ruffin could decide to return to the baseball program for one more season and that elite tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins would select them over his home state school, University of Washington.

Workman and Ruffin ended the speculation this afternoon, each signing professional contracts. Workman agreed to sign for much less than expected with the Red Sox, and Ruffin received a nice supplemental round deal from the Tigers. Tonight, Seferian-Jenkins chose the Huskies, stating that he was certain that they would be winning Rose Bowls and National Championships in his time there.

Many football and baseball programs are enduring days days just like that, but things are even rougher for the basketball program. A few days after top center prospect - and rivals.com's number two junior in the country - Isaac Austin chose Baylor over Texas, the Lonhorns saw DeAndre Daniels, a forward prospect from California ranked by rivals.com as one of the top ten players in the country, , decommitted.

That is a lot of talent to lose in one day.
