Official Recap: Rangers 7, Red Sox 3

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) – Michael Young hit a three-run homer to pace Texas in a 7-3 decision over Boston in the finale of a three-game series.

Julio Borbon and Andres Blanco each drove in two runs for the Rangers, who took two of three in the set.

C.J. Wilson (11-5) scattered four hits and one run over 7 2/3 innings, fanning eight with one walk.

Darnell McDonald hit a two-run shot and Marco Scutaro posted an RBI double for the Red Sox, losers in three of four.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (8-4) was tagged in the loss for seven hits and four runs in 6 2/3 frames.

The Rangers chased Matsuzaka with a four-run seventh inning and appeared to have a grip on the game. Mitch Moreland singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and to third on a groundout before scoring on a bunt single from Borbon.

Elvis Andrus hit a solid single and Manny Delcarmen was summoned, only to give up a three-run homer to Young for a 5-0 game.

However, the Sox struck with three runs in the eighth. Eric Patterson reached on a two-out infield single which caromed off Wilson, causing his exit in favor of Pedro Strop. Patterson went to second on defensive indifference and moved to third on a wild pitch, eventually scoring on Scutaro’s double.

McDonald followed with a two-run homer to right for a 5-3 score.

Texas regained control in the home half, though, as Blanco and Borbon slugged back-to-back two-out run-scoring singles to push the Rangers’ advantage to 7-3.

Neftali Feliz locked down the game with a scoreless ninth.

Texas picked up a run in the second as Blanco lifted a sacrifice fly to center with two runners in scoring position. Jorge Cantu came in on the out after singling, moving to second on a walk and going to third on a sac bunt.
