Report: Rangers Agree With 14th Round Pick Nick Tepesch

Jamey Newberg tweets:

Rangers sign 14th round RHP Nick Tepesch, out of University of Missouri

This is a key signing for the Rangers in a draft where they were forced to pick conservatively with their top picks, as Baseball America ranked him as the 130th best player in the draft, calling him "a work in progress" but noting his high upside.

Kendall Rogers tweets the value of the deal:

Rangers signed 14th-rounder out of Missouri, RHP Nick Tepesch, for $400,000. That's way over slot but not surprising.

That amount is the club's fifth highest reported bonus, with supplemental first rounder Luke Jackson's deal for $1.557 million pending.

Reports have also had the Rangers near signing fifth rounder Justin Grimm.
