Hamilton 2010 >>> Hamilton 2008

A quick note on how awesome Hamilton has been this season. By FanGraphs’ assessment of value, Josh Hamilton’s bat and glove in 2008 made the team 3.8 wins better than they would have been with a replacement-level center fielder.

In 2010, with fewer than half the plate appearances he had in the entirety of 2008, that same measure of performance has Hamilton at four wins above replacement already.

That is how good Hamilton has been this year. He could miss the rest of the season and probably still would have helped the Rangers more this season than he did in one of the most storied years in recent baseball history.
