Saltalamacchia Traded To Boston

The Rangers have traded catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for minor league pitcher Roman Mendez, minor league 1B Chris McGuinness, a player to be named later and cash.

Saltalamacchia has spent most of the season in AAA Oklahoma City after hitting the disabled list in April and then battling mental problems throwing the ball back to the pitcher.

Salty appeared in 193 games for the Rangers over four seasons, hitting .243/.309/.383 with 19 HR and 82 RBI. He was acquired along with Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Beau Jones and Matt Harrison in the Mark Teixeira trade three years ago.
