Guzman Trade Details

According to T.R. Sullivan, the Nationals are acquiring AA pitchers Tanner Roark and Ryan Tatusko from the Rangers in exchange for Cristian Guzman. Tatusko, 25 years old, has appeared in 24 games for AA Frisco – starting 13 of them – while logging 100 innings. He has a 2.97 ERA while allowing 94 hits, issuing 40 walks and striking out 58. Roark has appeared in 22 games - starting 17 - while posting a 4.20 ERA in 105 IP, allowing 113 hits, issuing 33 walks and striking out 75.

Buster Olney is reporting that the Nationals are kicking in over $2 million in order to make this trade happen.

This deal satiates the Rangers desire to acquire another second baseman while Kinsler is on the disabled list. Combined with the Cantu trade, the Rangers will be sporting an entirely new right side of the infield with Guzman at second and Cantu at first.

UPDATE: Robbie Griffin offers some analysis on the deal over in The Heart of Texas.
