A source said Friday that the Mavericks do not plan on entering into a contract that pays $10 million or more per year to Haywood. In fact, the Mavericks are aiming to come in at an average salary considerably below that.

The last time the Mavericks spent 10 million or more on a center, it was Erick Dampier.

With teams overpaying for the likes of Drew Gooden and Amir Johnson this summer, some team will give Haywood more than 10 million a year. And, at this point, that team will not be the Mavericks.
