The big news of the day in the National Football League was Dez Bryant becoming the first rookie drafted in the first round of this year’s draft to sign his rookie contract. The terms of the deal are reportedly five-years for $11.8 million, $8.5 of which is guaranteed.
Bryant explained why he was so eager to get the deal hammered out sooner rather than later:
“This was very important to me to be able to get this done in time for the first practice,” Bryant said in comments distributed by the team. “I want to help this team. I want to compete. I can’t wait to start playing football again.”
Got to love it. The Cowboys may just be sporting one of the best wide receiver corps in all of football this fall.
