This will shock you, but local reports say that the NY Post story on Mark Cuban joining Jeff Beck and Dennis Gilbert in a bid to own the Rangers may not be true. In fact, William Wilkerson says that reports of Gilbert being involved currently with Beck may not be valid.
↵↵↵A source close to former sports agent Dennis Gilbert said that a report linking Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to him and Dallas businessman Jeff Beck in an investment group that plans to bid on the Texas Rangers is unsubstantiated.
↵
↵↵Two baseball sources said that Major League Baseball is not aware of Cuban's or Gilbert's involvement in any group, let alone the same group. The sources also said they would be surprised if Cuban were to a join an effort that could potentially knock the group headed by Nolan Ryan out of the running to buy the Rangers.

Cuban continues to offer no comment, beyond saying that he has been contacted.
