No AHL team has ever come back from an 0-2 Calder Cup series deficit to win the cup. So you gotta believe your average Hershey Bears fan was a sad panda when the puck dropped Monday night down at the Cedar Park Center near Austin. And considering after the first period the score was 3-1 Stars, things were looking pretty dismal for the defending champs. But the Bears scored five unanswered goals in the second and third periods to win 6-3 and trim the Stars’ series lead down to 2-1.↵
Chocolate props to the Hershey Bears. I’ll add a highlight video link if/when it becomes available.↵
Both Defending Big D and the Hundred Degree Hockey Blog agree that in every series so far during the Texas Stars' playoff run, Dallas Stars prospect Jamie Benn has exploded to dominate a game with a multi-point outburst to ensure a victory. So far in the finals Benn has just 2 assists over 3 games. Tick tick tick – you gotta believe Benn is due to breakout here soon and carry the team to a victory. He better. Texas’ conservative defense-and-counterattack style has sorta relied on Benn delivering a points avalanche now and again.↵
Game 4 will be Wednesday night at 7:30. The Bears will be looking to defy history and tie up the series. The Stars will be hoping for a Benn-quake. Something has got to give!
