Wither The Big Twelve?

New, 1 comment

As I type this, I can only imagine the chaotic cell phone traffic that big school university athletic departments are creating this week, as the future of the Big 12 and, by ripple effect, much of the college football landscape hang in the balance.

The popular notion today has six Big 12 schools – Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Colorado, Oklahoma St and Oklahoma – joining Arizona and Arizona St in the Pac-10 East and forming a 16 team super conference. Washington AD _ sees this as a real possibility at the moment.

There are still major hurdles to any big change, including convincing the Texas state legislature to allow certain teams to leave others (Baylor) behind, and whether Texas A&M really wants to join the Pac-10 instead of the SEC.
