Mavericks Deal Second Round Pick To Complete Deal

New, 1 comment

Eddie Sefko reports that the Dallas Mavericks, picking fourth from last in the draft, have chosen to give their second round choice in 2010, rather than in 2011. The pick completes a deal in 2008 that brought troubled Shawne Williams to Dallas for two second round picks. Williams rarely escaped the bench in Dallas before being asked to stay away from the team to start the 2009-10 season and subsequently being dealt for Eduardo Najera.

Dallas dealt their first round pick in this draft to New Jersey as a part of the Jason Kidd trade, so they will not make a selection until 50, a pick that they acquired from Oklahoma City in a first round trade-down last year.
