Guerrero Absent From Starting Lineup

Rangers designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero, who injured himself prior to Wednesday’s game against the White Sox during batting practice, is not in Thursday’s starting lineup, according to T.R. Sullivan.

Guerrero was hit in the eye during batting practice before Wednesday night’s game and was taken to a local Chicago hospital. X-Rays showed no damage, but there was considerable swelling around the eye.

The OF for Thursday night’s game will be manned by Craig Gentry in LF, Julio Borbon in CF and David Murphy in RF. Josh Hamilton will be the DH. No word if Guererro will be available to pinch hit.

Guerrero is enjoying a resurgence in Texas this year batting .335/.366/.558 on the year and will hopefully be available this weekend against Tampa Bay.
