On To The NHL Draft

The Mavericks made last night's NBA Draft more exciting locally by dealing into the back of the first round, after beginning the day with just a late second round pick in their pockets. The Dallas Stars enter draft day (the draft can be seen tonight at 6:00 on Versus) in a stronger position, sitting in the 11th slot of the first round. Here is your full-on draft primer, thanks to Defending Big D and our other local resources.

Brad Gardner has Defending Big D's excellent draft preview, including DBD's draft prospect profiles, the Stars' selections (they've already traded away three picks), and several mock drafts.

Mark Stepneski and ADSP have their own set of prospect profiles and his preview of the day.

DallasStars.com talks about all of the work over the course of the year that the team pours into the draft.

Brandon Worley of Pro Hockey Talk gives us his Stars draft preview.

Several of those mock drafts project Dallas to take defenseman Derek Forbort, including ESPN's.

Mike Heika says that the Stars are going to focus on defense tonight and tomorrow.

Mike Modano looks back on his draft day with fond memories.

In case you missed it earlier in the week, Bob Sturm talked about the impact draft week has on franchises.
