More Mavs Draft, Trade Stuff

First off, Yahoo says that Mark Cuban is confirming active talks to move up in the draft

The Dallas Mavericks don’t have a pick in the first round, but they do hold a valuable $3 million trade exception. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told Y! Sports that Dallas is “taking bids” on it “in exchange for a pick and cash to help teams free up cap room and get under the tax.”

DB.com analyzes that report and takes a look at possibilities in the middle of the first round.

Bryan Gutierrez posted his own thoughts on possibilities yesterday over on Mavs Moneyball.

↵

Jeff Caplan takes a closer look at Derrick Caracter and whether the Mavs want to deal with his issues.

↵

DB.com findsout that Andre Iguodala probably isn't on the Dallas list.

For me, if that trade exception can get you well into the first round, I think it's a good place to spend it. You can't combine it with other assets in a larger deal, and look at what the Nets managed to do with it - Kris Humphries.

UPDATE -- And just as I post that, I see a new report from Jeff Caplan, saying that it appears that the Mavs appear fine with staying at 50.
