Evan Grant details the reasons that the expected timeline won’t assist the Rangers as they attempt to upgrade their team for a playoff run.
If the Rangers are going to be buyers in the trade market – and a No. 1 starter might just make this team as dangerous as any in baseball – the sale needs to close ASAP. The longer it drags on, the more likely sellers will move away from the Rangers as potential trade partners, no matter how attractive the minor league system may be to them.
Jon Daniels continues to insist that it’s business as usual:
“Here’s what we know: We have a good club. We have guys in the system that may help us at some point. And we have the ability to operate normally within our budget,” general manager Jon Daniels said. “Everything else is out of our control, so I’m not going to concern myself with it.”
