TCU Falls To Gerrit Cole, UCLA 6-3

UCLA starting pitcher Gerrit Cole pitched eight strong innings en route to a 6-3 win against TCU on Monday night in Omaha. Cole gave up three runs on five hits, walking two and striking out 13 Horned Frogs, easily out dueling TCU starter Kyle Winkler who did not escape the third inning. Winkler gave up five earned runs in just two and two thirds innings. TCU shortstop Taylor Featherston gave the Horned Frogs life late in the game with his three run triple in the seventh to make it a 5-3 game. UCLA added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom half to make it 6-3, a margin by which UCLA would win.

TCU will now face Florida State on Wednesday night, 6 PM Central in an elimination game. The winner of that contest will have to defeat UCLA twice in order to advance to the championship series.
