A pretty boring finals and a lackluster game 7 concluded the NBA season last night. However, that didn't stop Ron Artest from being his crazy self. If you missed it, Artest thanked his "hood... and psychiatrist" after the game.
The good news is the NBA off-season is officially under way!
We had our first trade yesterday, with the the Sixers sending Samuel Dalembert to the Kings for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes. Dalembert could have been a fall back option if the Mavericks struck out on Dampier and Haywood, but this shouldn't have too much impact on the Mavericks going forward. Unless of course this signals a fire sale... Iguodala next?
The Mavericks have pick number 50 in next Thursday's NBA Draft, but that doesn't mean that they won't be trying to buy in the first round. The Grizzlies have 3 picks in the first round, including the 25th and 28th picks, one of which should be available. The Timberwolves also have 3 picks and should have the 23rd pick for sale. But who would the Mavericks target?
Terrico White, Gani Lawal and Damion James all come to mind. If they stay at 50, Luke Harangody, Manny Harris and a Euro draft and stash player could all be options.
In a very unstable "video chat" JJ Barea says he would like to play for the Nets.
Popeye Jones is leaving the Mavericks to become Avery's assistant in New Jersey.
And finally more Ron Artest goodness, "Disneyland? I'd rather go to Compton."
