Carlisle Weighs In On Kidd's Willingness To Accept A Reserve Role

Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News reached Mavs coach Rick Carlisle for comment on Jason Kidd's recent remarks that he would come off the bench next season in order to accommodate dynamic youngster Rodrigue Beaubois:

Coach Rick Carlisle said he's hoping to slice Kidd's minutes by an as-yet-undetermined amount next season, when the future hall of famer turns 38.

"We've got guys willing to sacrifice for us to win, so I'm not surprised Jason offered to come off the bench at times," Carlisle said. "The big key is to get Jason's minutes down and make sure Roddy is prepared to step up and consistently produce in a more prominent role."

Sefko points out that Kidd, who turned 37 in March, ranked 20th in total minutes played last year.
