In his analysis of Jason Kidd's comments about wanting to cede minutes to Rodrigue Beaubois next season, Mike Fisher of DallasBasketball.com makes some interesting points, not least of which is that Kidd isn't even the most likely Mavs guard to see his playing time decrease.
“Sixth man’’? But what about Jason Terry, who so cherishes the title (but who is slipping as a playoff performer)? In reality, the 2010-11 Mavs will not likely be the season in which Kidd gives way to Roddy B. But it might be the season in which Jason Terry does.
If anything, Fisher says, Beaubois is more likely to become Dallas' two-guard of the future:
Not so fast. In Summer League this year, Roddy B will likely be the point guard of record. But once the NBA season starts for real, assuming Beaubois is still a Mav (and not dealt away in a major trade) he seems most likely to be a contender for the starting 2-guard spot while also serving as Kidd’s caddie at the point.
