Spokane Indians Announce 2010 Roster

New, 2 comments

The Rangers' short season Spokane roster was announced today. You can read about it here.

The big news is this:

Seventeen year old prospect Jurickson Profar is going to make his pro debut in Spokane as well. Profar, who is from Willemstad, Curacao, signed with the Rangers as a free agent in 2009. Originally looked at as a pitcher by many teams, the Rangers moved him over to shortstop and kept him in their instructional league last season. Profar was ranked the 15th best International prospect by Baseball America.

This is so exciting. Profar is the kind of toolsy stuff that idle daydreams about the future are made of. To see the organization putting this much confidence in him this early is just affirmation that those daydreams aren't necessarily that far off. On a personal level, this is exciting because Spokane is just a couple hour drive from me and, more importantly, they'll be playing in my home town from July 1 to 3. I intend to go to at least one Profar game and bring back pictures, videos and reports. Probably more than that if he doesn't get promoted even more aggressively before the season is over.

The rest of the roster can be found after the jump.
