Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) – Josh Hamilton hit a two-run homer and knocked in three, as the Texas Rangers earned a 7-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in the rubber match of a three-game interleague set at Miller Park.
Julio Borbon added a pair of doubles and two RBI for Texas, which has won five of its last six.
Colby Lewis (6-4) dazzled over eight innings, allowing only two runs on three hits with one walk to go along with 10 strikeouts. The right-hander also went 2-for-4 at the plate, drove in two runs and scored one.
Prince Fielder was the lone bright spot with a pair of solo homers for the Brewers, who dropped the last two games of the series and three of their last five overall.
Yovani Gallardo (6-3) was saddled with the loss for yielding four runs on six hits with four walks. The right-hander struck out 10.
Milwaukee opened the scoring in the first on Fielder's solo homer to left and it remained a 1-0 game until the fourth. Michael Young led off the inning with a double and scored two batters later on Hamilton's homer to right for a 2-1 Rangers lead. Lewis helped his own cause with a two-run single in the sixth to put the Rangers up by three. Vladimir Guerrero singled and Hamilton doubled to put runners on second and third. After the next two hitters struck out, Andres Blanco was intentionally walked to load the bases and Lewis grounded a base hit through the left side for a 4-1 game. Fielder cut the deficit to two in the home half with a tremendous homer to straightaway center. Hamilton's run-scoring groundout in the seventh restored Texas' three-run lead. Then in the eighth, Borbon brought in two more with a double to make it 7-2. Frank Francisco took over for Lewis in the ninth and retired the side in quick order to polish off the victory.
