Rangers Pick Up Mason Tobin From Angels In Rule Five Draft

Jim Callis reports via Twitter that the Chicago Cubs have drafted Mason Tobin from the LA Angels seventh overall in the Rule 5 draft and traded him to the Rangers for cash. Tobin was a promising prospect for the Angels before arm injuries knocked him out for almost two entire seasons.

The Rangers did not lose a player in the major league phase of the draft. The Pirates owned the first pick in the draft and selected Josh Rodriguez, a utility infielder from the Indians.
