As expected, the TicketCity Bowl will feature the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Northwestern Wildcats.
↵The Red Raiders finished with a 7-5 record on the season, going 3-5 in conference. Texas Tech has beaten two quality teams en route to their record, defeating Baylor at a neutral site and their home win over then-No. 12 Missouri. Quarterback Taylor Potts led the Red Raiders offense, throwing for over 3300 yards and 31 touchdown passes.
↵Texas Tech will face a Northwestern program that hasn't won a bowl game since 1949 - so they'll be plenty motivated when they head to the Cotton Bowl. The Wildcats started the season off 5-0 before losing close contests to Purdue and Michigan State. The Wildcats did not finish the season on a high note whatsoever; they were throttled in back-to-back losses, losing 48-27 to Illinois before being embarrassed by Wisconsin, 70-23.
↵Still, Northwestern should be plenty motivated when they head to Texas to take on the Red Raiders. Ending the season on a high note and ending the school's bowl drought would put a positive spin on a season that once started out so promising.
↵The TicketCity Bowl will kick off the 2011 bowl games, with a scheduled start time of 12 PM EST on New Year's Day.
