Cotton Bowl 2011: LSU To Face Texas A&M

The Aggies now know their opponent in the 2011 Cotton Bowl Classic.

Les Miles and the LSU Tigers accepted their invitation to the Cotton Bowl Classic and will take on Texas A&M. While the Cotton Bowl is one of the more prestigious non-BCS bowls, it’s still comes as somewhat of a disappointment to LSU, who had been the top-ranked one-loss team in the BCS standings until their loss against Arkansas. Consequently, the Razorbacks are headed to the Sugar Bowl while the Tigers head to the Cotton Bowl.

The Aggies have won their last six games, after dropping three straight games to fall to 3-3. The Aggies finished the season 9-3 and 6-2 in conference, tied with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in the Big 12 South. Texas A&M is ranked 18th in the AP poll and 17th in the USA Today poll and will likely be considered an underdog against LSU, who are ranked 11th and 12th in both polls respectively.

The Cotton Bowl Classic will take place on January 7, 2011 in Cowboys Stadium.
