The Texas Rangers decided to tender offers to C.J. Wilson, Nelson Cruz, Josh Hamilton, David Murphy and Darren O'Day, five of their six arbitration eligible players. That left Dustin Nippert as the club's lone non-tender. The decision makes Nippert a free agent.
The Rangers have already made several moves to solidify their bullpen, including signing free agent Yoshinori Tateyama and Mark Lowe, and offering arbitration to Frank Francisco and seeing him accept. With incumbants Darren Oliver, Alexi Ogando and Neftali Feliz returning and lefties Michael Kirkman and Matt Harrison looking for roles, the club decided that the unit was too crowded to guarantee Nippert his salary.
