College Bowl Picks: Missouri Over Iowa In Insight Bowl

The second bowl game tonight features familiar a familiar Big 12 foe. The fourteenth-ranked Missouri Tigers take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Insight Bowl, held in Tempe, Arizona at Sun Devil Stadium.

The Tigers finished the regular season with a 10-2 record while going 6-2 in Big 12 play. Missouri's only losses this year came in back-to-back weeks against Nebraska and Texas Tech in late October and early November. Since then, the Tigers have gone on a three game winning streak to close out the regular season. The Tigers finished the season with the sixth-ranked defense in the entire FBS, allowing only 15.2 points per game.

The Hawkeyes plan to make this a defensive struggle as they bring their seventh-ranked FBS defense into the Insight Bowl as they allow only 16.4 points per game. Iowa, however, is coming into the Insight Bowl on an entirely different track than Missouri is. The Hawkeyes are currently riding a three game losing streak, losing to Northwestern, Ohio State and Minnesota to round out the regular season.

I'll take the Tigers to beat the Hawkeyes tonight in the Insight Bowl. Missouri has simply been the better team this season and the records indicate that. Further, Iowa is dealing with off-the-field issues, notably the arrest and suspension of wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos
