Dirk Nowitzki Lags In All-Star Voting

In initial NBA All-Star voting returns, Dirk Nowitzki sits in fourth place among Western Conference forwards, well behind projected starters Kevin Durant and Pau Gasol.

Forwards:
Kevin Durant (Thunder) 470,881
Pau Gasol (Lakers) 390,808
Carmelo Anthony (Nuggets) 369,768
Dirk Nowitzki (Mavericks) 264,301
Tim Duncan (Spurs) 247,364
Blake Griffin (Clippers) 245,167

Jason Kidd is sixth among guards, with Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul projected as starters. Brendan Haywood (Tyson Chandler is not on the ballot) is third among centers, but only has a little over one-fourth the votes of Yao Ming.

In the East, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Dwight Howard are runaway leaders at forward, guard and center. Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo currently lead for the other two starting spots.
