College Football Bowl Projections: Texas Bowl

The Texas Bowl, held in Reliant Stadium in Houston, will take place on December 29, 5 PM local time. When kickoff arrives, it's likely that we'll be seeing the Baylor Bears take part in their first bowl game since 1994. The Bears likely opponent looks to be the Illinois Fighting Illini, who haven't played in a bowl game in two years.

The Texas Bowl holds the fifth choice among non-BCS schools for their selection from the Big 12 and Big 10 conferences for participants in the game. The Texas Bowl will likely want Baylor to play to give the game a team from Texas as a participant.

Baylor enjoyed a successful season this year that included being ranked in the top 25. Baylor had their record up to 7-2 before a three game losing streak, all against ranked opponents, ended their regular season on a sour note as the Bears finished 7-5. Still, the Bears became bowl eligible in the process and will have a chance to end their season with a bowl victory.

Illinois is currently 6-5 and have a game left to play on Friday when they take on Fresno State.
