There's only one week left to go in college football before we start seeing bowl games. The Cotton Bowl venue will be host to the TicketCity bowl on New Year's Day and it will be the first bowl game to kick off 2011. The TicketCity Bowl will feature the No. 6 team from the Big 10 and a comparable team from the Big 12. The Big 10 looks like they will be sending a pair of teams to BCS bowls. Wisconsin, by virtue of the BCS tiebreaker, will head to the Rose Bowl while Ohio State looks primed to receive an at-large BCS bid.
↵The No. 6 team in the Big 10 as of today is Penn State, followed by former power Michigan at No. 7 and Northwestern at No. 8. Last week, I predicted Northwestern headed to the TicketCity bowl. This week, it looks like Penn State will be playing in the first bowl game of 2011.
↵I expect the Big 12 to send a "home" team in either Texas Tech or Baylor to face off against Joe Paterno and Penn State. Given that Baylor has played better than Texas Tech this year, I expect the Bears to get invited to different bowl game. I still expect Texas Tech to play in the TicketCity Bowl.
↵We'll find out the actual bowl picture soon, but until then, I predict that Penn State will face off against Texas Tech in the TicketCity Bowl on New Year's Day.
